- Tenants is very important that you let staff and contractors into your home to carry out the safety checks to keep yourself and your family safe.
- If you do not allow them into your home, you could be at risk from CO and subject to legal action and place your tenancy at risk.
THE LAW
- Anyone carrying out work on a gas appliance must be competent and a Gas Safe Registered Engineer.
- Landlords are generally responsible for making sure all gas appliances are maintained and the flues are checked every 12 months.
- Landlords must be able to provide tenants with the latest safety certificate and have records of safety checks for two years.
- Mains gas providers / emergency service providers must in the event of an emergency make the situation safe.
- Gas appliances should not be placed in sleeping accommodation areas
