It is important that you have gas appliances and connections checked every 12 months.
Tenants is very important that you let staff and contractors into your home to carry out the safety checks to keep yourself and your family safe.
If you do not allow them into your home, you could be at risk from CO and subject to legal action and place your tenancy at risk.
THE LAW
Anyone carrying out work on a gas appliance must be competent and a Gas Safe Registered Engineer.
Landlords are generally responsible for making sure all gas appliances are maintained and the flues are checked every 12 months.
Landlords must be able to provide tenants with the latest safety certificate and have records of safety checks for two years.
Mains gas providers / emergency service providers must in the event of an emergency make the situation safe.
Gas appliances should not be placed in sleeping accommodation areas
